Glen Scotia 18 has all the flavors I look for in a scotch. Hints of honey, orange peel, pear maybe dried apricot. It has long legs with a long finish that goes on forever with a hint of the sea as well. There is no peat that I can detect. I would give it a 5 star rating but there is a hint of something on the finish that I can only describe as a soapy taste. Not that I taste soap, but it is funky. It is very faint, but it is definitely there. It isn’t present on every taste maybe 60% of the time. With the addition of two drops of water all the flavors are enhanced, the finish stays long, and that funky soap taste drops down to about 25% of the time. This description is after two different tasting nights just to make sure I wasn’t imagining anything. The bottle was newly opened maybe with time this faint off taste will disappear. BTW it is not present in the 15 Year old Glen Scotia.
On another point this company is great. The orders are delivered promptly, they are well packaged, and this company does the right thing if a mistake is made, they make it right. Very professional. I can’t put into words how happy I am doing business with them. I definitely will be a repeat customer.
