Undoubtedly one of the finest producers in the entire industry, Jean Fillioux have been making some of the best quality Cognac around since their foundation by Honore Fillioux way back in 1880.
The Cognac house remains family owned, with the current manager the fourth generation of the family to hold the role, having done so for nearly 70 years. The vineyard itself is just 63 acres in size, and is found entirely within the “golden triangle” of the Grande Champagne cru – the most fertile land in the Cognac region. As the vineyard is quite small, production is low and stocks small, making every bottle that bit more exclusive.
This is delicious XO Cognac is made entirely with Grande Champagne cru Ugni Blanc grapes. The eaux-de-vie in this bottle is said to have aged for more than 30 years. The Cognac offers notes of dried apricot, peaches, elderflower, nuts, dark chocolate, maple syrup, cinnamon, cedarwood, rancio, tobacco smoke, rich oak and black tea.
A superb, over aged XO Cognac from an extremely reputable domain.
